  • Chequer Mead Theatre De La Warr Road East Grinstead, England, RH19 3BS United Kingdom (map)

How to plot your story

You have lots of ideas for stories, but you just can't get to the end. Learn story structure techniques to help you develop the story you want to tell with confidence. We will look at famous story structure theories (three acts/five acts, story circle and stories without tension), key scenes and satisfying endings.

All dates are Tuesday evenings (7-9pm) at Chequer Mead Theatre:

May 12 - Workshop 1: The Set Up

  • openings and inciting incidents

  • plot vs story - what’s the difference?

  • subplots and story strands

June 9 - Workshop 2: Story Development

  • the ‘because’ plot

  • other story structure ideas

  • key scenes

July 14 - Workshop 3: In The End

  • reversals

  • resolutions

  • types of endings
